Rainbovian History

Rainbovia is a world of high fantasy, populated by beings of all races; including elves, dwarves, humans, halflings and everything in between.
Over a millennium ago, their world was changed forever in the great cataclysm known as The Spill, in which the land was rent with colour; forever changing its hue.

Rainbovia World Map

Throughout its history, the borders of each of colour has changed with each pushing to reclassify a hue under its' own banner. Now, in the year 1047 A.S. ("After Spill") the land is divided into the 7 Kingdoms, known as The Colour Courts. Each Colour Court is the ruling power of the lands over which it presides, and sends representatives to The Colour Council to meet and discuss global political and economic matters. The Colour Council maintains the peace and security of the realm, with each Colour dedicated to supporting the decisions made, including committing a standing army and to abide by any economic sanctions.

Significant Players

At the heart of the Colour Council, The Primary Colours hold the most influence, with significant control over the realm.
The other major player in global politics is The Spectral Church, led by the Three Subtracts, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. The unique position of Yellow, holding positions in both The Colour Council and The Spectral Church has created significant tension over the 1000 years following the spill.

The Shades

On a small, isolated island to the west of Rainbovia sits Sinellium. A land shrouded in fog and the only location in the world that has no colour. The religious histories speak of The Shades, powerful creatures who protected Sinellium from The Spill and used the chaos that followed to attempt to take over the land. This is known as The Shadey War.
Their attempt was foiled due to the power of the Spectral Light, provided by Colouria (the god of Rainbovia) and harnessed by Lumina Solara, that cleansed the lands they had conquered by spreading their toxic magic known as 'Grey Scale'.
In a last ditch attempt to save themselves, The Shades turned to The Dark One, pulling his power as a cloak over their island.

Historic Events

The first hundred years of Rainbovian history are predominantly held by The Spectral Church, who's stores were a few of the limited records saved during the Shadey War.
For 250 years following this (115-349 A.S.) The Spectral Church was the only real force of notable power across the realm. Lumina Solara led the church as The Spectral Light for 40 years before passing away in his sleep. With Lumina's powerful guidance lost The Three Subtracts became the primary political powers of the land. Unbeknownst to the people of Rainbovia their machinations and manipulations increased the wealth and prosperity of the church, using the fear of Grey Scale and as the primary holders of knowledge in the land.

The Colour Courts were in their infancy at the time, and were heavily influenced by The Three Subtracts, who sought to consolidate their own power.

In 349 A.S. The Green and Yellow Courts went to war over The Mixing Expanse, a basin in the middle of the realm, in which natural resources have flourished since The Spill. The conflict spread, eventually becoming known as The Palette Wars. The Three Subtracts were divided. The Red, Violet and Blue Courts sided with Green, while Indigo and Orange sided with Yellow. The war raged for 58 years, conflict after conflict shattering the realm, with untold casualties.
In 407 A.S. The Violet Court reached an accord with Indigo and prompted a peace, known as The Wheel. By 408 A.S. The Colour Council was formed with each of the Courts intended to hold equal negotiating and bargaining power to influence decisions of the realm.
